The School of International Studies Shares Experience in Think Tank Development at 2025 PKU Humanities and Social Sciences Research Work Exchange Conference

On 19 December 2025, the 2025 Peking University Humanities and Social Sciences Research Work Exchange Conference was held at Peking University. The conference focused on key issues including the development of humanities and social sciences at Peking University, research innovation in the new era, think tank development in service of national strategies, and interdisciplinary research collaboration.

Jiang Guohua, Vice Chair of the Peking University Council, attended the conference and delivered the concluding remarks. The meeting was chaired by Chu Xiaobo, Director of the Office of Humanities and Social Sciences. More than 130 participants, including leaders from humanities and social sciences schools and research institutions as well as research administrators, attended the conference.

Zhang Haibin, Vice Dean of the School of International Studies (SIS), represented SIS at the conference and delivered a thematic presentation on the School’s experience in think tank development. His presentation reviewed SIS’s overall progress in think tank development in 2025 and outlined future plans from three aspects: major achievements, key experience and practical insights, and future directions. The presentation highlighted SIS’s achievements in building think tanks and emphasized the importance of integrating high-level academic research, talent cultivation, and a high-quality policy advisory ecosystem.

The presentation received positive feedback from conference participants.

At the conference, individuals with outstanding performance in Peking University’s think tank work in 2025, as well as excellent research administrators, were commended. Liu Chunmei and Ma Qianying from SIS were recognized as Advanced Individuals in Think Tank Work, while Wang Yumeng and Feng Jin were named Excellent Research Administrators.
