Delegation from the Department of International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science Visits SIS

On the morning of April 17, 2026, Professor Marc Baer, Head of the Department of International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), led a delegation to the School of International Studies (SIS) at Peking University. The delegation was warmly received by Dean Professor Tang Shiqi, Vice Dean Professor Dong Zhaohua and Associate Professor He Jiani during a deans’ meeting in Room A101 of the SIS building. Mr. Zhang Chunping and Ms. Tong Tianyu from the Office for International Programs also attended this meeting.

Dean Tang Shiqi welcomed Professor Baer and his colleagues, emphasizing the significance of the visit for strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchange. He noted that since its establishment in 2006, the PKU-LSE Double Master’s Degree in International Relations has grown steadily for 20 years, producing numerous outstanding graduates active across various fields. Dean Tang attributed these achievements to the mutual trust, close collaboration, and sustained commitment of both teams.

Professor Marc Baer expressed his gratitude for the reception and spoke highly of the longstanding, productive partnership. He expressed hope to deepen exchanges and expand areas of collaboration, taking the relationship to a new level. On the occasion of SIS’s 30th anniversary, Professor Baer extended his sincere congratulations and best wishes to the School.

The LSE delegation included LSE-PKU Double Degree Programme Director Dr. Ronald Po, Department Manager Ms. Demetra Frini and Double Degree Programmes Manager Ms. Nayna Bhatti. During the visit, the two sides jointly held a series of events, including an information session for the double degree programme, a book talk and academic dialogue featuring Professor Marc Baer’s work, a meeting with first-year PKU students enrolled in the LSE programme, and the annual joint working meeting.
